(KRON) -- A Napa jury convicted a man Friday for a 2024 crime during which he broke into a woman's house and sexually assaulted her while she was in the shower.

“What happened in this case is many women’s worst nightmare. It’s difficult to imagine the terror the victim experienced when she was attacked and sexually assaulted by a stranger in the privacy of her own home,” Deputy District Attorney Worley said in a statement.

On the evening of June 20, 2024, Amador Solano, 34, broke into a Napa home where a woman was showering after coming home from work. Solano went into the bathroom, pulled back the shower curtain and sexually assaulted the woman telling her, "This will be easier if you do what I say," according to court documents.

The woman fought Solano off forcing him to flee but not before grabbing the woman's purse and wallet. Police were able to find Solano shortly after on the Napa River Trail. Police found the victim's purse and wallet on him, as well as methamphetamine and cocaine.

The woman took the stand during Solano's trial and testified against him. A jury found Solano guilty on several counts including sexual penetration by a foreign object, assault while committing a burglary, first-degree burglary with a person present, false imprisonment by violence, making criminal threats, misdemeanor petty theft and possession of cocaine and methamphetamine.

"I hope this verdict brings her a measure of justice, peace, and closure as she continues on her
journey of healing,” Worley said. "Her fortitude and bravery throughout these proceedings have been remarkable."

Solano is set to return to court for sentencing on Nov. 17.
